Tommi Rautio`s HE JÄIVÄT is a poetic documentary film about the Winter War from the perspective of the grandchild. In the film, the role of a woman in a home-breed is highlighted, and on the other hand, a bit of history is spoken about the battle of Kelja.

The fictional section of the film tells the story of a soldier and his wife's fate on the feet of the Winter War, based on genuine correspondence.

In the documentary part, in the battle of Kelja, a soldier's granddaughter's grandchildren are looking for the fate of their ancestor and hear stories of evacuees.

Documentary film is part of the 100th Anniversary Program of Finland's Independence.

The film's music is composed by Japanese, Hideyuki Shima. The female part is one of the hottest names in the Finnish indie movie, Saara Elina. Her most recent works have been the main roles of Sami Pöyry's "Hetket" (2018) directed by Samadi-Film, and "Kyrsyä" (2017) by Bright Fame Pictures directed by Roope Olenius.

Experts in the film are also interviewed by Professor Maria Lähteenmäki, Professor of Finnish History and Reetta Paakkinen, Editor and Writer.

The film has been scriptwrited, directed, photographed, edited and produced by Tommi Rautio of Joensuu. The film is Rautio's second long documentary. He has previously directed the documentary film Oothan vielä ( Be still there ) and short documentary Two Songs of Life.
